We put together 10 random objects found in our backpacks and arranged them into a symbol that represents us. My symbol was a Pyramid. Below you can find a picture of my upside down Pyramid.

Prototyping...
We were faced with the task of improving a client’s daily work commute. My client’s biggest problem similar to most was traffic, but this wasn’t the only issue. My client wanted a solution that could benefit not only himself but other people on their commute, the environment, and he wanted a way for him to multitask to increase efficiency in his day. To satisfy all of my client’s needs I creating innovated and fused many existing inventions into a couple that I believed my client would enjoy. The one that seemed the most spectacular to him was a train system. First things first cars would be eliminated from main roads and transformed into bikes and motorcycles, and then all major roads and highways would be transformed into railways on which a continuous train would be going. To get to his work site from his house he would ride his bike to the main road where he would pedal straight onto the ramp of the train, next you would find a “parking spot”, once you have reached your destination you would exit through either your personal door located by each seat or the main exit located at the front of the cabin.

Reflection...
My client questioned the effectiveness of only one exit at the front of the cabin, which got me thinking, until BAM! I found the solution. Make a door at every seat! This would help with unloading, making the transitions smoother and more time efficient. I was surprised by the fact that it wasn’t hard to understand the needs of a client and ideate new solutions to solve their problems. At first I thought the process would be long and tedious but to my surprise it was enjoyable and it exited me at near the end when my client was excited to see my prototype. One of the few questions my client asked was, when can I use this train? This right here told me that not only was I excited my client was happy and was awaiting the arrival of this amazing creation. Other things that I would like to innovate or re-design in a similar manner would be a way a student does their homework and how people multi task in their daily lives, these are just two of the endless possibilities, I have thought of.

MARSHMALLOW CHALLENGE-
We were tasked with raising a marshmallow as high off the ground as possible with only 20 spaghetti sticks, a yard of tape, and a foot of string. We attempted the challenge the first day and were successful when most other teams failed. Most teams were not as successful because they left the marshmallow to the end where in the last 2 minutes they placed the marshmallow on the structure to then realize it wasn’t strong enough. The second day all teams were able to raise their marshmallow off the ground, our group raised our marshmallow 7-10 inches taller than the first day. We learned that you must always keep your client (aka the marshmallow) in mind while constructing prototypes and going through the innovation process.
